gtp.gr An established website which offers reliable and precise information on all Greek cruise lines, although its search engine is more suitable for travel agents and experts on Greece. Exact information should be inserted and although the site does offer alternatives these can be more confusing than helpful. Some of the users wished to travel to Poros and ended up in Paros, or wanted to purchase a ticket to Ios and accidentally booked to Khios. In short, the website is excellent for those who know Greece.
greekferries.gr This is considered a useful website which claims to present all the different companies, although it does not always do so – it may list only hovercrafts while omitting the cheaper ferries, most probably out of economic interest, thus harming the service provided by the site. Assistance from other website is therefore needed. The site does further not allow one to book one day in advance or on the same day. The search engine is somewhat obsolete and has not been replaced for five years, whereas companies such as Blue Star or Helleniceways have updated their website every year. Greekferries relies on one of Greece's ancient traditions – reliance of Fortuna.
The most popular lines: From Piraeus to Paros, Naxos, Ios and Santorini which also allow travel in the largest and most modern ships. From Piraeus to Aegina and Angistri there are approximately 15 departures per day, 07:00-18:00. From Kylini in Peloponnese to Zakynthos there are ferries all year round each hour from morning to evening. Ferries also run all day between Igoumenitsa and Corfu and there is no need to purchase tickets in advance, apart from the last part of August. Two other popular lines are Piraeus-Lesbos and Piraeous-Crete. Numerous lines depart from Lavrio to the islands of Andros, Tinos, Kea and Mykonos. Some lines depart from Igoumenitsa at the north-west of Greece to Italy and some depart from Petras at the north-west of the Peloponnese. book greece hotels on line and save
